I Love Your Smile!'s been one of those weeks. You know, as soon as you sit down to do a little crafting, you need to jump right back up and get something else done. I don't like these kind of days because the interruptions are so frequent even beading doesn't relax me. But I'm grateful for my van. It has been working hard alongside me.

Although I complain about traffic and gas prices, my van seems to be a part of my body and I really don't know what I would do without it. Yes, I'd like a smaller, fuel efficient car but we are often hauling a lot of things around (bikes, Christmas trees, boxes, folding get the idea) and my van is perfect for the job.

So reason why I love my van...
#1: It is our family's mule.
#2: When I forget the bottled spaghetti sauce for our pasta meal, I can hop into the van and be at the store in a minute or two. I've tried walking to the store (with my kids because I can't leave them at home alone) but it becomes a full blown field trip taking more than an hour to get a bottle of spaghetti sauce. We stop to look at the kitties, explore alternate streets, take water breaks much too often and of course, buy shave ice for the walk home. Walking while eating shave ice is difficult.
#3: The bus is always an option but I have difficulty thinking of all the planning and time needed to get from point A to B then to C then back to B...oops forgot the spaghetti on to D now back to A. Kudos and respect to those who do that!
#4: When vog is smothering the island and the humidity is unbearable, the air conditioning in the van is heavenly.

Despite this week's lack of beaded relaxation, I have something to the thankful van and you...

Thank you friends...I Love Your Smile!

Unabashedly Guilty

Yes, our sofa is nasty and disgusting.  I know you hear me complain about it all the time.  I guess I can't scold you for trying to get rid of it...especially when you look so pleased with your work.

I Love Your Smile!

Happy Friday!

So what made this week special for you that it put a giant grin on your face?  Hmm...let me think.

* We went to see Quidam on Sunday. I was entertained throughout the entire show but I laughed so much during the improv acts when members of the audience were brought up to participate.  That was funny!
* I made a sale.  I'm thrilled when someone likes my work enough to buy it!
* Our before-bed-family-time always make me smile.  This week our littlest had a magic show.  She's terrible and that made it hilarious.
* I got a very nice shout-out from Jamie on her blog, ChatterBlossom.  So unexpected and so sweet!

Hearing from you even though I've been terrible at blogging, makes me happy.

I Love Your Smile...

  • I'd like to share with you some of the work I've completed this week.

    I Love Your Smile!

    Happy Aloha Friday!

Did you have special moments this week that made you smile?  Here are mines...

    * Dim Sum lunch with my husband in China Town.
    * Watching my littlest practice for volleyball (her first team sport).
    * Having my oldest sleep next to me because she had a nightmare. She's in her "Mom! You're embarrassing me!" stage so it's nice that she still wants cuddling. Shhh...don't tell her friends!

And of course, you made me smile...

  • Thank you to my favorite Weiner Dog, SassySashadoxie, for including my kitty cat charm in your treasury.  I love your smile!

    What Motivates You...

    to Exercise?

Today I went to my regular chiropractor visit and doc asks me, "Do You Exercise?"  "Yes...I walk." I reply. Doctor was kind enough not to grill me on the details. I see the sign on the walls stating the importance of regular daily exercise {the heart pumping kind} and I scrunch up my face in guilt. When I get home, I walk the dog. I walk fast-ish.

My dog's sad face motivates me walk but Poochy is easy to please. He'd be happy with a treat and I often take advantage of that.  So you exercise me get off of my beading butt! How do you do it?

Oh yes beads!  Let me tell you about them. I'm "adjusting" my shop and making a lot more loose charms - charms that are not attached to straps, key rings, bookmarks, ear hooks, etc. because people have been requesting those to use in their own designs.  I'm listing phone straps as an "add on" and may possibly do the same for the key rings and bookmarks...not sure yet... I have collected pretty beads over the years and will use those to embellish the straps. I also got out my eye pins but I forgot how to make those nice loops on the pin. I got a refresher here. It's a wonderful video and here is my result.

Well thanks for stopping by today.  Go exercise!

    San Diego Zoo Pandas...

    ...that I did not see.

I may have mentioned this before but I'm forgetful so I'll mention it again.  A few years ago, we took a family trip to California to do the Disneyland, Sea World, Legoland and San Diego Zoo run.  I did not see that Pandas at the zoo because I was sooo hungry and the line was sooo long.  I chose to eat rather than see the cute Pandas.

I imagine that the Pandas would have looked like this...

    Panda Charms

Did I mention that my daughter came back from the trip with pneumonia?  She never wants to return to way!!!  It wasn't the happiest place on earth for her! Dad made her go on the Tower of Terror and it gave her pneumonia!

    My Beading Buddy

Daisy is our family's Bichon and my beading buddy.  Here she is, on the computer, checking out my Etsy shop. Mostly Daisy sits at my feet and waits for beads to drop on the floor. A dropped bead becomes a toy and I'm sure she has snacked on a few. This past week, Daisy was not feeling well. She'd chase the cats then start honking. She'd eat/drink and start honking. Her loud honking kept me up at tired! Too tired to bead!

Bichons are known to suffer from allergies and Daisy suffers! The vet prescribed our doggy with allergy medication and antibiotics and she is responding well. Now I am back to beading and Daisy is back to chasing the cats.

Here is my latest.  It is a special order that I just completed.

    Gardening with Beads

When we first moved into our home many years ago, I had big plans for a garden.  I quickly learned that I don't have a green thumb.  The pretty, aromatic pikake flowers are barely hanging in there but the ti leaf plants are doing well and the weeds are thriving.  I really would love a bright, colorful flower garden but if I can't grow 'em, I'll bead 'em.
